Yang Chairs cabinet meeting and snub protest

The prime minister and head of government Philemon yang today  November 24th 2016 at the star building chaired a cabinet meeting amidst ongoing protest by lawyers and teachers of the anglophone extraction concerning issues of marginalization. But the meeting which began at 9:00 am according to CRTV, saw the premier focus his discussion of Cameroon meeting its international commitments especially implementing the deal on climate changed.

After an expose by the Minister of the Environment and Nature Protection, Pierre Hélé who presented conclusions from the just-ended COP 22 Conference in Morocco, other cabinet ministers like the minister of Forestry and Wildlife, the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of the Economy and the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of External of Relations in charge of relations with the Commonwealth took turns to discuss pertinent issues. But as the nations tries to honor its international commitment, many protesters back home are calling for their government to honor its domestic commitment to its citizens and respond to their demands which many see as a right which has long overdue.

In a possible response to one of the demands of lawyers, the prime minister  urged ministers to respect bilingualism as stated in the law especially with the publication of official information.
