Varsity games: UDouala leads but UYaoundé and INJS all battle for top spot


Athletes from 17 state universities and other major higher institutions of learning have been battling it out at the 20th edition of the all varsity games in the baby University of Bamenda. The one week events which brings together thousands of athletes and anxious  spectators across the country has entered day 5 with the university of Douala leading the medal table, strictly followed by all time champion INJS and University of Yaoundé 1 follows in third.

The University of Buea as at time of putting this report had registered just one medal though in gold while host university Bamenda is still to get any precious medal as the hunt for goal continues across the different sporting grounds in the vas campus of the University of Bamenda.

Taking place amidst ongoing crisis in the entire English speaking regions which has greatly affected the educational sector, the university heads and North West governor Adolphe lele Lafrique have been regular visitors at different grounds to drum up support for the competition athletes as they make their mark in the sporting jamboree.

 One of the most entertaining aspects of the games is the presence of different fans club to support their respective teams and this year has been no different as fan clubs have been pulling crowds to witness their adorable dancing steps, dressing and crazy hair styles
