UB’s Nalova Lyonga debunks claim her passport has been seized


The Vice chancellor of the University of Buea, Anglophone leading university in the country has fiercely denied reports that her passport has been seized at the Nsimalen international airport in the nation’s political capital Yaoundé as she attempted fleeing the country. The autocratic vice chancellor, partly blamed for ordering police and gendarmes to brutalize students protesters has faced massive calls to be sacked as right groups have condemned the brutality as violations of human rights with some calling on her to resign but Vice chancellor which was seen by political pundits as future Premier of the country has dramatically fallen from pecking order as strike ravages Anglophone Cameroon and many see her as part of the problem

On the university Facebook page, the controversial Vice Chancellor dismisses claims her passport has been seized as baseless and says they are just one of those stories circulating on social media which are not true. “The University of Buea would like to thank those members of the community who make an effort to verify information from the institution. We are aware of certain rumors spreading across social media and we discourage the spreading of fabricated news. “a message on the university’s face book page reads.

They also went ahead to call on reporters to write to the university through for more information about any information related to the VC or the university.
