Iceland the nation is weary of Iceland the supermarket for using its name which the state says has made the supermarket to block other companies from using the same name in their products and filed a case on Friday to the European Union Intellectual Property Office to invalidate the trademark.

Iceland food which is reported to hold a Europe-wide trademark for the name and has been using it for close to 50 years “has aggressively pursued and won multiple cases against Icelandic companies which use ‘ICELAND’ in their representation or as part of their trademark, even in cases when the products and services do not compete,” the government said in its statement.
