The news announcement which came in the backdrop of reiterated stance by the new VC prof Hoorace Ngomo that the student body still remains banned was announced on a page reportedly run by the outlawed student’s body
All for one, one for all, they began their Facebook message with their famous motto before announcing their comeback in defiance to new administration
The university of Buea students Union, UBSU was once the most active student body in the country before it was dissolved. Known for its fearless stance to defend the rights of students and frequent strike actions initiated by their 15 man executives who lived lavishly during their reign.
Following continuous unrests in the early days of her administration with strike actions going on almost on a bi-monthly basis, the then VC prof. Nalova Lyonga disband the powerful union
. Accused it of being used as tool to destabilize her administration and some of the members were tried and given suspended sentences for different alleged crimes during the 2012 protests on campus of the university
Since the group was declared persona non grata, the University of Buea fondly called the “place to be’ has relatively been calm.
The announcement on Facebook of their return is seen by many as a pressure group will certainly cause plenty of worry in the minds of the new administration and remains to be seen what actions will be taken to halt the movement as they have cautioned students to be on aler5t as they will soon dish out instructions.
