Eto’o make his case for the poor as the legend receives the player career award in Dubai


Its was a glitzy evening at the Madinat Jumeirah at the 11th international football conference in Dubai as cameroon legend samuel Eto’o was one of the world soccer superstars present in the star studded evening to award football stakeholders for their achievements. While football best Realmadrid Cristiano Ronaldo might have grabbed the headline with “the best player of the year award”,. it was the African who  made an impassioned plea to FIFA boss Infantino, telling him to “make the World Cup of 48 countries for the poor.” With a proposal for a 48-team World Cup being mooted,

The multi millionaire also had kind words for former real madrid coach, Fabio capello, whom the Antalyaspor striker and three times champions league winner says its thanks to him that his family can eat. That is certainly an understatement as Eto’o is currently one of the richest footballer in the world with an estimated net worth of over $80 million USD.

The football legend also back home the player career award for his huge role he has played in soccer around the world.

The 35-year-old who was named African Player of the Year for four times was rewarded for his immense input to the round leather game – which saw him get three Uefa Champions League, two La Liga, two Africa Cup of Nations and Fifa Club World Cup titles.

“I’ve received the Player Career Awards in Dubai yesterday. Thanks to all my teammates and coaches who have helped make this possible,” Eto’o tweeted.
